The Fifth Crusade! Worldwound Adventures

The Story so Far (Session 4)

18-19 Arodus 4713 AR

Before continuing their travels, the party requested the services of a local blacksmith named Agni Sagestone, a famous artificer and warrior in Mendev. Agni gave some ridiculous initial prices to the group, but they easily identified the inconsistency and asked for a reconsideration, laughing Agni told them it was just a test, and bought all their extra weaponry for a fair price. After that they commissioned a Magic Full plate for Jamros and some cold iron weaponry for Celthric, Turael and Kronug. After that they rested and Irabeth presented them Hathelerm Arir, they began their quest to investigate the safehouses and escort the envoy, in their way for it they found a group of citizens fighting each other inside an improvised ring made of ruble, they later found the people was being manipulated by a group of Demons, who were beaten, one tried to escape invisible, but Jamros killed it, swinging his sword blindly at the air.
They proceeded with their mission and quickly arrived at the entrance to the undercity, where they saw a foggy figure which later was revealed as Grohl, who run away from them. Some seconds passed and Lahm came out of the hole with a wrathful expression in his face, and told the group Grohl just killed Chief Sull. Quickly the party tracked the mongrelmen and caught him cowering, they forgave him for what he did and got the information they needed for the safe houses, they investigated the Nyserian Manor which was destroyed and found a letter that reveals one of the safe houses, Topaz solutions, a local Alchemy supplies shop.

They went to Topaz Solutions and there was a group of looters which attacked them at first sight, but were easily defeated. In the basement they go attacked by a mandragora and Turael was caught by a trap released by a giant statue of a Marilith and got hyped by the effect of the poison. They manage to beat the creature, also Jamros was tricked with some poisonous Holy symbols. After some time they found proof that the leader of the Ivory labyrinth was in Estrod’s tower.

The group informed Horgus and Aravashnial of the Safe Haven in Defender’s heart and all went there, they took their time and had a good time having a drinking competition won by Celthric, which was sharing his stay with Feena. Meanwhile Horkul made business with a fellow spellcaster. After getting some sleep, the party went on to Estrod’s Tower, and they pretended to be cultists, and they said the password to enter. They were given free pass to enter the leader’s room in the basement, Faxon asked for “the acquisitions” but Jamros showed his intentions and attacked first. In the battle Jamros almost got knocked by two heavy strikes in his head, but he resisted the pain and continued fighting with the reliable support of Turael. Celthric evaded various blows while dancing and cutting his foes with incredible precision. Horkul’s magic managed to control the battlefield and keep the rest of the cultists in the stairs (incredibly don’t know how they failed so much saves I guess they weren’t made for saving reflex) with his Grease spell, but he went melee and got knocked down, and later recovered consciousness only to be knocked again when he used his staff to cure his wounds. Finally Kronug was controlled by a cleric at the start of the battle, but later he said “no” to the orders given by the command user, and hacked his way in the fight, still the spell affected his dexterity somehow and he couldn’t connect his swings as he uses to. The battle was won and the Cultists of Baphomet in the city were defeated, but they got some dire news when they recovered this letter found in the cultist’s treasure room.

The group knows Areelu Vorlesh was none other than the Artificer of the Worldwound, a dangerous witch with enhanced demonic powers and high rank in Deskari’s army. But that was not the main problem, Horkul recognized the Nyhidrian Crystals, as a powerful artifact created from fallen demon lords, used to corrupt and reach worrying new levels of foulness and power. After realizing this, they went to Defender’s heart immediately to report their findings.

The party took a rest in Gwerm’s manor except for Kronug Sal that wanted to rest outside, until he saw weird figures in the air and ran away back to the house. They left the rest of the people safe in the house and continued their way to Tirabade’s residence, as they promised Anevia to take her there. Anevia was eager to see her wife but before they got there, the party was assaulted by some fiendish vultures with thirst of human flesh, but the party stopped them before they could bite, worth to mention was fried by Horkul’s powerful scorching ray, even though they were resistant to fire damage.
As the group arrived in Tirabade’s residence, Anevia’s wife wasn’t there and they were ambushed by an evil Criminal who sought to kill Anevia as a personal vendetta against her wife, who put her in jail years ago. Anevia was almost killed by Vagorg’s Summons and ranseur, but was saved by Turael and the rest of the group, finally Kronug cut Vagorg by half with his Greatsword. Before going out the group found a letter telling there is a resistance reunited in Defender’s heart and that Anevia’s wife is there. They left immediately to join them.

The way to Defender’s heart wasn’t too far and they reached almost immediately, the group was let in when the guards saw their commander’s wife. All of them had an eagle tabard in their chests making them part of the Eagle watch, one of the main crusader factions in the city. Anevia finally reunited with her wife, Irabeth Tirabade who presented herself and thanked the PCs for their help. The group told her all they knew about the cultists and their infiltration in the city and also told her about the mongrelmens in the underground. Jamros offered Radiance to Irabeth as he though he wasn’t worth, but Irabeth told him he was and that she believed in him. She finally offered the party stay in the Inn and offered them a mission to escort an envoy to the underground and to investigate more about the safehouses in the process.

Kronug Sal the Ustalavian barbarian reached Kenabres after hearing the news of demons attack. Without heed he rushed in with a thirst for demon’s blood, and quickly found himself surrounded by a group of dretches. They damaged his great sword and injured him driving Kronug to counterattack with a furious assault but he was surprised by a mysterious shadowy figure that rendered him unconscious.
-
Back underground the party continued their way to the surface after dealing with some last cultist remnants. Through the northern path of the cultist’s den they traveled and in the process Turael detected a secret room with some useful items and gold and they utilized the scales dropped by the great silver dragon Terendelev to levitate over the trapped areas. The final roadblock to escape was sort of maze, which also happened to be an ambush point for a pair of dretch demons. The demons fell before the power of Jamros wielding Radiance and Horkul’s magic but not before tragically, Ghaundar fell to a dretch attack. The dretch caught him unaware and punched a claw through his chest cavity. The party avenged his loss and returned him to the surface world for a proper burial.
Upon arriving on the surface they were met with a terrible sight, the city laid in ruins at their feet. The demons had destroyed the Wardstone! Turael and Horgus were affected the most keenly by the loss. They carefully proceeded through the devastated city when they met a possessed barbarian, Kronug, who was recklessly slaughtering innocent people. They deduced he was possessed by an abyssal entity and Turael used the powers given to him by Ragathiel to exorcize the barbarian. This forced the demon out of his host which revealed the demon’s true form, an Invidiak from the darkest layers of the abyss. Enraged by the loss of its meat suit it attacked but was repelled by the daylight spell Turael used, and teleported away before being destroyed. After deciding that Kronug Sal was not an evil man but an instrument of Ragathiel’s wrath, they recruited him to the cause.
-
Aravashnial asked the party to escort him to Blackwing Library, as he thought that place would be a good place to rest, but the party first decided to go to a nearby temple to Sarenrae to bury their fallen friend. Upon arrival they saw a group of Crusaders trying to rape an elven woman and immediately the party set to finishing them off. The turned Crusaders were easily dispatched by a conjunction of Horkul’s spells, Celthric’s mighty dancing scimitars, and Kronug’s powerful blows all while Jamros skillfully blocked their attacks. After dealing with the crusaders they gave proper burial to Ghaundar and Jamros left some Iomedae’s holy symbols at his tomb so he had the goddess guidance through the afterlife.

After that the group immediately left for Blackwing library, but when they arrived Aravashnial realized there was something odd. As the alarms and locks were activated, the group rushed in with Anevia’s help and found the egocentric Chaleb and a group of Tieflings working together to burn what little was left of the library. These minor threats posed to problem and the party dispatched them handedly. The librarians were deeply moved by the party chivalry and expressed their gratitude, they allowed them to rest here before they continued their trip. Here Celthric met Feena, a young wizard apprentice who had been captured by Caleb. Celthric immediately took a liking to her and they shared a conversation until the wee hours of the morning.

The next day Horgus asked Turael and the group to escort him to his mansion as he assumed the worst, it was destroyed. The group surmounted several obstacles, notably a group of cultists sacrificing innocents in the street. Turael realized that the sacrifice was none other than Mikkel, his childhood friend. This left him in a blood boiling rage, and he promised revenge on the zealot cultists and all but one were defeated in combat. While they were deciding what to do with the surrendering cultist Kronug took it upon himself to dispatch him, a deed that caused an uproar. Having killed their only lead to the whereabouts to the safe houses due to a misguided understanding of Ragathiel’s teachings the barbarian was lectured by Turael and Jamros as to how the group handled members who surrender. Afterwards Turael, deeply sad by the loss of his friend, went to find a proper place to bury him.

As they continued on their way they heard someone call for help inside a local business named “Fine Fittings,” they entered and found that the owners were being attacked by an Abrikandilu, a demon who delights in defiling art and beauty. It was enraged when Celthric showed it its own reflection in his mirror that it focused its rage on the mirror and was subsequently struck down by the party. The owners were so thankful they gave each party member an expensive outfit. They continued their way through the fallen city when a woman with a child crossed their path and told them some strange rumors about the queen being a succubus and the wardstone being destroyed, the group assisted in calming down the woman and continued on their way. After that they passed next to a strange fisherman who was fishing in a pond surrounded by devastation. The party tried to convince him to follow them, but he was too busy fishing and as they left him to his own devices he vanished.
Finally they arrived to Horgus place, it was the biggest mansion in the neighborhood and he gave the party what he promised, two thousand gold pieces for his rescue. After Horgus apologized for his troublesome attitude he thanked them for their help and the party spent the evening resting here.

The Story so Far (Session 2)

17-18 Arodus 4713 AR

After defeating and delivering Millorn to the leaders of Neatholme, the heroes were invited to stay and gather their strength to battle with the rebels in the adjoining caverns. Before they could depart a shady mongrelman named Golh, a merchant in town, tried to pass off drugs as useful items to the party. Due to his knowledge of the planar entities Horkul discerned the true nature of these vials as Shadowblood, a powerful drug created from twisted materials of the Worldwound. The party refused all offers from the mischievous Golh and instead informed the Chief of his citizen’s misdeeds. Chief Sull angrily forced him to help the party and threatened to exile Golh for his crimes. After final preparations, the Chief showed them to the city’s exit that lead to caves of the fallen mongrelmen, who had traded their righteous crusader past for a future following the cultists of Baphomet.
-
The party swiftly arrived and their presence was felt as they decimated the mongrelmen host, all falling before the combination of sword, shield (more shield than sword) and spell. All were offered the chance of forgiveness but, all save a select few chose death. The party handedly defeated waves of mongrelmen and cultists until encountering an archer of prowess who caused them no amount of trouble as she fleetingly fired arrows into the melee damaging our heroes and almost bringing about their downfall.
After advancing deep in enemy territory, a pair of cultists attacked the heroes. With their demonic weapons and their negative energy blasts, they almost felled Jamros with a well-executed glaive strike, but Turael brought him back from the brink and back into the fight. Following this near fatal encounter the party shored up a set of defenses and created a space to rest.
-
After resting up, the heroes ventured deeper to the room of the cultist leader. Upon entering her lair the heroes discover it is none other than Hosilla, a powerful Baphomet officer with ties to Jamros’ past. Hosilla attacked them bringing a powerful spirit weapon and her foul glaive to bear nearly sending the party to their graves and, if not for Aravashnial who used a powerful lightning spell to crush her helpers, Hosilla would have been victorious. After defeating Hosilla, they discovered a cursed lockbox with gems, the legendary sword of the heroic paladin Yaniel known as Radiance, and a mysterious staff with incredible powers. The real treasure was the undestroyed letters telling the party about the other Baphomet cultist’s safe houses.

Character Creation and Campaign Info

Hello Everyone i will be mastering this campaign, as everyone knows this Adventure Path is long and full of terrors, so the players must be reliable and compromised to the game. The objective is mainly to have Fun, so i am not obsessed with banning rules and stuff, still there is some things that i will not permit, so you can all ask me here. no 3rd party stuff (specially psionics)

-Number of Players: 4-5
-Software needed: Skype and headsets ofc
-Rulebooks allowed: All paizo’s books.
-Special Rules: I will use Ultimate Campaign Rules for Mass Combat and Downtime.
-We will be playing weekly Fridays, 3 PM.
-PvP is not encouraged, as this campaign is cooperative in its roots.
-This Campaign is meant to use Mythic system portrayed in Mythic Adventures.
-We will use the Medium experience table.

-Role play will not be just rolled, this means that if you roll for lets say “diplomacy” you still need to talk in character to explain what you want to say.

-I will have to tweak slightly Crafting system and implement some 3.5 stuff, so to craft magic items now you need to invest 1/20 of base price from character’s exp. this is meant to stabilize crafting in Pathfinder.

That would be all, i’ll try to answer everyone, because i’m just that type of person.

I see you all in the Fifth Crusade!
===============

Anyone interested in playing should have an account in Obsidian Portal. is really easy.

  • The characters will be created with 20 point build system. can’t dump below 8.
All Core, Base and alternate classes available (not 3rd party) including their respective archetype, multiple archetypes are accepted as long as their features don’t “collide.” Except for Gunslinger, the Antipaladin, the Synthesist and the Zen Archer Monk.
  • Just Core Races, still if you give me good reason why you want to play so bad certain race (and not just because of min-maxing) i can allow it. Aasimars and Tieflings are an expection, these ones are a good option. Drow TWF Rangers are utterly Banned (just kidding xD)
  • Alignment: All but evil (except if you give me good reason for being evil, and they must be related to redemption or some Devil guy that hates demons)
  • 2 Traits, and 1 must be selected from this Guide——> http://goo.gl/0sCgH6, actually everyone should read at least a part of this Guide. Also the Demon hunter’s handbook.
  • Average Gold for the class.
  • Character should have a nationality from Pathfinder Campaign Setting. Kellids (Sarkorians)
  • if it is possible to put Character’s Lengh and Weight in Standard International Units would be cool, for example, Jhon weights 74 kilograms and he is 1,70 m.
  • Max hitpoints for first level.

The Fall of Kenabres
16-17 Arodus 4713 AR

-
-
The player characters (Horkul, Jamros, Celthric, Ghaundar and Turael) all reached Kenabres in the morning to join the Armasse celebrations, to investigate and to research. Ghaundar arrived first but he was mistaken for a criminal and was taken by the city guard, but Celthric and his group of friends could give him time to escape and he disguised appropriately. While that happened Jamros Trannyth was ready to do his duties when some kids tried to rob him, but he got his money back as Turael stopped the burglar and they forgave him for his crime. They decided to go together to the celebration and while they were walking Jamros encountered with Aleena, Alysis’s sister, and told her what happened, then they decided to meet after the Armasse. Horkul Magesblood reached the city by that time and he encountered Terendelev, the Guardian of the Wardstone, in the city streets and he made a premonition about him being the savior of Golarion. He then continued his way to remember past memories, he gave money to the town special guy, then scared him and made gnome friends and also scared them, in the process.
-
When the main event of the Armasse begun, demons started overrunning the city and a huge explosion was felt, after that Terendelev and a huge demon with a flame blade were battling and they destroyed the Cathedral of St. Clydwell, at the same time a strong Earthquake opened a giant hole in the earth and the pc’s falled in it, but Terendelev invested his last breath to cast Feather fall on the PC’s so they survived the fall, but all of them lost consciousness.

-
When they woke up they were on Kenabres underground tunnels that were constructed by the first Crusaders, over there they met Aravashnial the Riftwarden, Anevia Tirabade and Horgus Gwerm. Anevia was hurt but was healed momentarily by Turael, while Aravashnial told the PCs he was blinded some days ago by a lurking demon. The PCs organized themselves and agreed to work as a team to reach the surface alive, with some little difficulties imposed by the problematic Horgus, but Turael was able to convince him to work with them, and he promised everyone a big reward for getting him to the surface. When they started moving ahead they encountered various native vermin which were not trouble to the PCs, for exception of one giant fly passed a disease to Celthric. Also they got some useful equipment in the floor and in the ceiling, which was easily climbed by Ghaundar.
-
The PCs reached a holy temple of Torag, killed the Huecuva that was haunting it and consecrated it again to the deity, which gave them a blessing and allowed them to rest for the night in the temple, without being bothered. When they proceeded their quest for the surface, they killed some photophobic darkmantles and entered Millorn’s lair, which didn’t make the dwarf very happy, and attacked the PCs, but they struck him to the floor, tied him and carried him with them. After that they met some deformed humanoids that later presented to them as the sons of the first crusades which were altered by abyssal energies. Jamros with the help of everyone saved one of them from a rock that was impeding her, for that they thanked them and guided them to their home. Before getting there they had to climb a huge obstacle in the way, which was easily done by everyone with the help of the ropes and Ghaundar’s climbing ability. After that the mongrelmen alerted the PCs about a dangerous creature that lived above, a “spore-cougher,” but they discovered that the beast was already dead and beneath it, there were two dead bodies of Iomedae Crusaders, but they discovered that the crusaders were in fact, heretics of a demon lord Jamros knew very well.
-
Upon reaching Neatholm they were warmly greeted by all the denizens that were excited to meet real Crusaders from the surface, the group talked with their leader, named Sull, who thanked them again for their service and allowed them to stay in his room for resting, before they continue their trip.
